February 16th & 17th (with optional extra day on the 18th, President's Day), 2002 WARWICK, NY - 2-DAY IN-STUDIO WORKSHOP: COLLAGE, COMPOSITION, & THE CREATIVE PROCESS / in the Artist's Studio: Explore composition and the creation of a personal visual vocabulary in the weekend or 3-day workshop. Enjoy new opportunities for spontaniety as you learn how to eliminate liquid adhesives from the collage-assembly process. Other subjects to be covered include "Getting Started," Accessing our Creative Energies, "Paperless" Transfer of Printed and Photocopied Images, Incorporation of Computer-generated images into traditional collage, Permanency of Materials, Preparation of Substrates, Sources of Tools and Materials, Presentation and Framing of Finished Works, and more. March 16th & 17th, 2002 SUMMIT, NJ - WORKSHOP: COLLAGE TECHNIQUES & CREATIVE EXPLORATION / The New Jersey Center for Visual Arts: During this 2-day workshop, my fourth at The NJCVA, we will explore new developments in Collage without Liquid Adhesives, "paperless" image transfer, and other collage techniques. We will also examine our own individual sources of creativity and learn how to access them more readily. Composition, personal style, and "getting our work out there" are also possible agenda items if we wish. Limited to 10 Participants. Workshop Fee: $175. August 5th thru 9th, 2002 COOS BAY, OR - 5-DAY COLLAGE INTENSIVE: "THE CUTTING EDGE - New Approaches, Techniques, and Implications " / The Coos Art Museum: From the drafting of a group mission statement to the collecting of works for a final critique, this five-day intensive will be filled with challenging activities designed to increase our technical knowledge, broaden the scope of our vision, and empower our creative inspiration as we produce exciting new works. /// During this workshop we will create an intentional artistic community in which we will all learn from one another. As we explore composition and refine our personal visual vocabularies we will reflect on past successes and failures, revise our individual goals, and make concrete and specific plans for future projects. Together we will discover new perspectives which will allow us to see our works and their evolution more clearly. /// By examining our responses to a variety of mediums we will find new insights into our individual creative efforts. September 25th, ROSEBURG, OR - - SPECIAL 6-HOUR WORKSHOP: COLLAGE TECHNIQUES & CREATIVE EXPLORATION / Umpqua Valley Arts Association: John Picone, Education Director of the UVAA, has invited me to present an afternoon and evening workshop on Wednesday, September 25th. This workshop will offer an introduction to Collage without Liquid Adhesives and "paperless" image transfer and will also provide an opportunity to explore a variety of methods for teaching visual language skills. Hours: 3:30pm to 9:30pm. Workshop Fee: $75 including materials. September 28th & 29th, SEBASTOPOL, CA - - WORKSHOP: COLLAGE TECHNIQUES & CREATIVE EXPLORATION / Sebastopol Center for the Arts: This will be my first workshop at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts. They have a new building and I understand the space is wonderful. In addition to Collage without Liquid Adhesives, "paperless" image transfer, and other collage techniques, we will explore Composition, Creation of a Personal Visual Vocabulary, the Presentation and Framing of Finished Works, and more. 9:30am - 5:30pm both days with optional evening hours 'til we're too tired to work any more on Saturday. October 25th, MANHATTAN, KS - FREE LECTURE DEMONSTRATION & FREE WORKSHOP: COLLAGE: MEDIUM AND METAPHOR / The Beach Museum, Kansas State University: Hosted by collage artist and educator Professor Lynda Andrus, this free program will consist of two activies with a break for lunch. At 10:30am I will present an interactive lecture-demonstration during which we will discuss the implications of collage as a medium and new developments and techniques. There will also be time for questions and answers. At 1:30pm I will lead a 2-hour opportunity to explore, hands-on, Collage without Liquid Adhesives and Acrylic Image Transfer. Both activities are free and open to KSU students and non-students alike. Folks are invited to attend either or both activities. The program will be held in the UMB Theater at the Beach Museum. JONATHAN TALBOT: A BRIEF BIOGRAPHY:

Works by Jonathan Talbot have been exhibited at The National Academy and The Museum of Modern Art in New York, have represented the U.S. overseas in exhibitions sponsored by the State Department and the Smithsonian Institution, and are included in museum collections in the U.S. and Europe. Talbot was awarded a career achievement mdeal at the Florence Biennial in Florence, Italy in 2001. He maintains his studio in Warwick, NY where he lives with his wife Marsha. They are the parents of two children: a daughter, Loren, and a son, Garret.
